The historic Hindustan–Tibet Road, built in the mid-19th century, connected India with Tibet through the famous Shipki La Pass. Traders transported wool, salt, carpets, spices and other goods across these rugged Himalayan mountains. Today this legendary route offers breathtaking cliff-side roads, traditional villages, Buddhist monasteries, apple orchards, snow-covered peaks and unforgettable Himalayan scenery.
Indian nationals require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) for restricted border areas of Kinnaur. Foreign nationals must obtain the necessary permits before travel and carry valid passport and government-issued identification throughout the journey.
